PROJECTS
Lelisa Desisa Water Bottling Plant
Precision Industrial Water Facility
Project Type: Erection of Pre-Engineered Steel Structure on Existing Reinforced Concrete Building
Location: Ashawa Meda, Tatek Area, Burayu Town (Adjacent to Top Water Facility), Oromia Region, Ethiopia
Sector: Beverage / Water Bottling Industry
Phi Engineering executed the erection of a pre-engineered steel structural system for a water bottling plant located in Ashawa Meda, Tatek area of Burayu, adjacent to the existing Top Water facility. The project involved installing the steel superstructure on a previously constructed reinforced concrete building, developed to support water bottling and related industrial operations.
The scope of work focused on the integration of the steel roof and framing system with the existing concrete columns and beams, ensuring structural compatibility, accuracy, and long-term performance. All steel components were supplied by the client, while Phi Engineering was responsible for erection, alignment, and secure installation.
Engineering and Execution
Prior to erection, Phi Engineering carried out verification of as-built concrete dimensions, level checks, and setting-out to ensure precise positioning of steel members. Approved steel-to-concrete connection details were implemented to guarantee proper load transfer and structural stability.
The erected steel system consists of primary steel girders and secondary roof members, forming a wide-span industrial structure suitable for bottling lines, equipment installation, and efficient internal workflow. The structure was designed to accommodate operational loads and allow for future installation of roofing, insulation, and cladding systems.
All erection works were executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and applicable Ethiopian construction and safety standards.
Project Outcome
Despite the challenges associated with working on an existing concrete structure, the steel erection works were completed successfully, achieving accurate alignment and stable structural integration. The completed steel framework provides a durable and functional enclosure suitable for water bottling plant operations.
