Phi Engineering successfully executed the design, fabrication, and erection of a Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) industrial complex for Hamiya Food Processing PLC in Adama City. The project comprises two steel portal-frame buildings with a combined built-up area of approximately 7,500 m², developed to support food processing and associated industrial operations.
The project was delivered under a fully integrated design-and-build approach, with Phi Engineering responsible for structural engineering, fabrication detailing, steel production coordination, and on-site erection.
Engineering and Structural Design
The PEB system was engineered to achieve structural efficiency, construction speed, and long-term durability, while accommodating operational requirements such as equipment loads, clear internal heights, and efficient material flow.
The buildings were designed in compliance with Ethiopian building regulations and applicable industrial standards.
Building configuration:
Building 1: Width: 40 m, Length: 125 m, Clear height: 10 m
Building 2: Width: 20 m, Length: 125 m, Clear height: 8 m
Building Description
Both buildings consist of single-span steel portal frames with optimized pre-engineered sections. The structures were clad with industrial-grade roofing and wall systems suitable for food processing environments, providing durability, weather resistance, and ease of maintenance.
The internal layout was planned to support production, storage, and logistics functions, with provision for mechanical, electrical, and ventilation systems.
Project Execution
Phi Engineering managed the project lifecycle from conceptual design through fabrication and erection, ensuring quality control, dimensional accuracy, and safe installation practices. The use of pre-engineered steel components enabled rapid on-site assembly and minimized construction time while maintaining high fabrication quality.
The project was completed in close coordination with the client to align construction sequencing with operational planning.
